University of the Philippines BaguioFor the Fungal Lab component of his internship, Jamin's work focused more on performing fungicide assays for isolates obtained from the Benguet region. This involved performing processes such as sample purification, PCR amplification, DNA Extraction, and Agarose Gel Electrophoresis. University of the Philippines TaclobanRian assisted in isolating, purifying, and identifying fungal isolates obtained from infected banana leaves with the goal of obtaining samples of P. fijiensis. His help was invaluable especially in the production of modified culture media and in the morphological identification of the numerous samples that the lab had.
